Karen came to Deans Court in 1987 following a year at the Law Commission as a research assistant on the Family Law team. Her pupil master was HHJ Eaglestone.

After spending 10 years working in all areas of family law and also prosecuting and defending in the Crown Court, Karen decided to specialise in matrimonial finance and private law children cases.

Karen has gained a reputation as a specialist in high value, complex ancillary relief cases. She has a wide client base but most of her work is in Cheshire and Manchester.

She regularly provides training seminars for solicitors who specialise in matrimonial finance.

She frequently acts in cases concerning businesses/shareholdings of all types including property development, retail and manufacturing. She has acted in cases concerning high profile professionals from many fields as well as top sports people and media and entertainment personalities.

Discretionary trusts, inherited assets and foreign property often feature in her cases. She has a particular interest in cases involving allegations of missing, dissipated or hidden assets.

In her work concerning children, she frequently deals with sensitive, complex cases including those where there are allegations of domestic abuse, alleged drink and drug misuse and psychiatric and psychological issues. She sits as a Recorder in Family cases.

Karen is a powerful advocate as well as being an experienced and sensible negotiator. She has a reputation for rigorous cross examination and a straightforward, pragmatic approach.
