Julia has appeared in the Court of Protection in cases involving welfare decisions for adults, including the elderly and young adults. The majority of her experience has been of acting in cases where a child who lacks capacity and is the subject of care proceedings reaches adulthood and the case is transferred to the Court of Protection.
Julia also has experience of dealing with cases in the High Court under the inherent jurisdiction concerned with medical treatment and provision of care packages for disabled adults etc. She has also challenged local authorities in care proceedings in respect of their failure to provide adequate support and integrated Care Plans where parents are physically disabled or suffer from a learning disability.
Julia has a particular interest in Deaf issues arising from the representation of Deaf parents in care proceedings. She has experience of working with an intermediary for Deaf people
