Joanna started her career in 2000 when she undertook a civil/ family pupillage at Broadway House Chambers based in Bradford and Leeds.
Joanna rapidly developed a specialist family law practice there and has specialised in family law since around 2003. Her practice in West Yorkshire involved public children law, where she represented various Local Authorities, parents and children, private children law disputes, ancillary relief and TOLATA cases.
In July 2010 Joanna was invited to join the family team at Deans Court Chambers, where she has already developed a busy and thriving specialist family law practice. Her organised and committed approach to her case preparation, and her down to earth approach with clients has been recognised by professional and lay clients respectively.
Practice
Within care proceedings Joanna has represented Local Authorities, parents and children at all stages of the proceedings, including finding of fact hearings and final hearings. Her experience includes cases involving non-accidental injuries, neglect, domestic violence and drug and alcohol misuse.

In relation to ancillary relief proceedings Joanna has represented clients on section 37 applications, maintenance pending suit applications, and at FDR and final hearing.
