Profile
Eliza has had a specialist training in family law, with a particular focus on childcare work, and has developed a keen interest in mental health and community care law, arising out of this. Eliza regularly represents vulnerable adults and young people with learning difficulties and mental health issues in care proceedings and also advises Local Authorities during public law pre-proceedings in cases involving mental health and capacity issues.
At University, Eliza completed her legal research dissertation on the development and impact of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 on the legal framework governing advance decision making and the development of the Court of Protection. Since then, Eliza has gone on to participate in further training courses, including attendance on Young People, Mental Capacity & Mental Health Care Law [Centre for Health and Social Care Law] and Using the Court of Protection - Best interests, DoLS appeals and Safeguarding [Institute of Mental Health Law].
